(Awesome times Awesome) divided by (1/Awesome)

remember - when dividing with a fraction you multiply with the reciprocal, or something like that -

“Dolph is in Command, Now: Karate champ turned actor Dolph Lundgren will star in and direct Command Performance, a script he also co-wrote. Lundgren describes it as Die Hard at a rock concert, where bad guys take over the show, but luckily the drummer is an ex-Marine. For real, Dolph says he “got the idea from Madonna.” Asks little orphan Tommy: “Vulture? Will this be the best movie ever made?” Yes, Tommy. Yes, it will. [HR]”

Also, I saw over at Nate’s Tumblr that Cat Power will be opening for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds at the Hollywood Bowl. The original opener was Spiritualized, with other acts to be announced. My hope is that Spiritualized will be added back to the bill. Now that would be a dope show.

p.s. - Was anyone planning on going to the REM/Modest Mouse/The National show? I dunno yet if I’m willing to put up with REM just to see The National. Ticks go on sale this Sunday.

Aside from the upgrade from Economy to Elite Class on EVA Air, this was the highlight of the 14 hours I spent underneath a blanket.

Rhyming Knowledge and College . . soo easy

I’m posting this only because two people have sent this to me thinking they scooped me on it, even tho I saw it last week on Fluxblog.

But seriously, Keith and Liam are the best internet friends a guy could ask for . . .

SWINE TIME

My favorite movie of all time gets some love.

THANKS LIAM!!!

Let’s See How Long This Lasts . . . .

I’ve declared war on foul language. Well, it’s more of a personal struggle.

From here on out I’m going to do my best to refrain from cussing. Sure, there will be exceptions (fictions, acting, singing along to Dennis Leary songs, etc) but I really see no point in it anymore at this present moment.

Have you ever been around someone who cusses like a drunken sailor? It’s kinda annoying isn’t it?

The hope is that this will only improve my vocabulary for words and phrases such as “uncouth,” “walking embodiment of bad form,” and “complete lack tact” to describe people I do not get along with.

2008’s “Rehab”

Yeah, I have a good feeling that this song will blow up. Good to see Bernard Butler’s keeping busy.

LIKE POURING A FORTY . . .

So here are some links. Yeah, there are a lot and I kinda promised these yesterday, but the whole Spitzer debacle kinda sent me into a tizzy.

In posting these links I have realized that there may never be another serialized television show that inspires me to live a better life, open my eyes gaze at the world around me. I guess what I’m trying to say is that this may be a good time to start watching The Hills.

NEW YORK MAGAZINE’s VULTURE Blog has been the bomb with their coverage throughout the season and Monday morning was no exception. Despite the Eliot Mess.

I would only hope that my enthusiasm for the show here ] would encourage some of you to rent the DVDs (or steal them from your friends, as I did). I know I turned a few people onto the show and I can say that their lives are better for it. And seriously, we need more girls watching this show. I only know of one girl who watches the show. WTF? I was at a party this weekend and another Wire fan said that it’s the same reason girls don’t like hip hop. Are you ladies gonna stand for that? C’mon girls, show McNulty, Avon, DeAngelo, Bodie, Wallace, Poot, Stringer, the Stevedores, Carcetti, Bunny, Naymond, Michael, Dookie, Randy, Herc, Carver, Daniels, Prezbo, Marlo, Chris, Prop Joe, The Greek, Clay “sheeeeit” Davis, and the Bunk some love.

B5 and I’m outie, 5000.

FAVORITE WIRE MOMENTS

So last nite was the last time we will ever see a new episode of The Wire. Which means a lot some of us probably did not get a lot of work done today as we were scouring the web for answers, commentary and general reminiscing.

I’ll have a ton of links later tonight here and over at newdaycoop.blogspot.com, but in the meantime I wanted to post MY top 15 moments. Off the top of my head so it’s a bit sloppy and fuck if I can remember much from season 3. To limit the amount of time I would spend on this I decided to list 3 moments from each 5 seasons.

Spoilers ahead.

Season One

- The time Herc, Carver and Prez go to the Towers to start shit only to have the towers fight back with televisions thrown out the window. This was my first “Holy Crap, this show is awesome moment.”

- Waylon’s speech during the N.A. meeting.

- Bodie and Poot take out Wallace. Man, I grimaced as Wallace begged those guys not to do him like that.

Season Two

- Ziggy and Frank’s earnest talk down by the docks

- Cheese Wagstaff throwing Ziggy on the car

- Ziggy’s heartfelt speech to his father after his arrest.

Guess who my favorite character from Season 2 was?

Season 3

-Kima and McNulty, believing that they saw Beattie, decide to chase her car through the streets of Baltimore

-The Omar and Brother Mouzone showdown.

- The throwaway moment in the gay bar revealing a major character is gay.

Season 4

- Naymond taking a whopping from his Dragonlady mom and realizes he’s not his father’s son.

- The classroom boxcutter incident.

- Bodie gets got. Shit, he was such a good kid too. Oh wait, he did Wallace in, remember? Yeah, he got what he deserved

Season 5

- Clay Davis’s miraculous courtroom victory

- Omar - Spiderman shit

- After a meeting with some bigtime money players, Marlo goes back to the streets to ensure his name is still his name.

Hopefully some of you will post some shit down there in the hole.

Jenna Bush Loves The National

. . . and I love Jenna Bush.

ANOTHER NEW FAVORITE FILM

alltherealgirls
I saw this film as part of a tribute to director David Gordon Green (George Washington, the upcoming Pineapple Express) at The Egyptian Theater in Hollwyood. Man oh man. It’s been a very long time since I was floored by such a low-key, subtle, honest film such as this one. I think the last film that affected me in the same was John Duigan’s Flirting (with a young Thandie Newton, Noah Taylor and Nichole Kidman) which I saw for the first time nearly 13 years ago.

I really can’t think of any other film that nails what the genesis of a relationship really feels like. Zooey Deschanel is amazing and I have to wonder why Paul Schneider is not in more films (he really held his own against Ryan Gosling and Emily Mortimer in Lars and the Real Girl).

Now I need to go and watch more films by David Gordon Green and hope that the upcoming success of Pineapple Express does not steer him away from making such gems.

POLITIKS

Two reasons why I’m not as political as all my peers -

BARACK OBAMA IS YOUR NEW BICYCLE

HILLARY CLINTON IS MOM JEANS

(and she reported you to the RIAA, SNAP!)

Both of these are funny at first, though the tragedy when you realize it is that these two sites have again reduced politics down to the four-letter word that turns most people off in the first place. My hope is that these two sites were created by Republicans, because as a Democrat I would hate to think that one of my peers would purposely try to turn this historic race into a popularity contest.

Yes, I minored in politics at school - but I was more of a closet class warrior than anything else. I got a deep discount to go to a private college, so I wasn’t very vocal about my roots. And yes, I voted a few weeks ago in the CA Democratic Primary. And yeah, I read the articles from the National Affairs desk in Rolling Stone (and I used to read The National Review online, for the sake of understanding the otherside but haven’t done so much lately). So I am a bit biased, tho semi-informed.

But I’m not campaigning for any candidate in particular, making phone calls or telling my parents who to vote for in the PA primaries. The only political SWAG I own is a Tommy Carcetti For Mayor T-shirt (from the actual show MOFO’s, thanks Liam)

The unfortunate fact is that social change happens best through the bungled process of politics/government. Social change can start at the grass roots level but ultimately it needs to be finalized by turning into law, in which you would need the legislative branch of the government.

I truly believe that BOTH Hillary and Barack can be real agents of change. So while I respect your decision to stand behind your candidate, let’s not go slamming another candidate despite the fact the she (or he) has served you and this country for longer than you were alive. Don’t go hating the players when you know the game is already kinda fucked.

Bottom line - stop posting this kinda stuff on my Funwall, in my comments box and please stop IM’ing me this stuff during my working hours.

And seriously, if you’re not voting - to put this as nicely as possible - you should really consider what effect that might have on you and everything around you.
